About Safari World
Safari World is an open safari park and marine park on the north-east side of Bangkok, popular with families.
Safari World is a large wildlife park in the Khlong Sam Wa district of north-east Bangkok, split into two sections. In Safari Park visitors drive through open enclosures with giraffes, zebras, lions and tigers, while Marine Park has walking trails, animal feeding and a series of shows throughout the day. It is one of the most popular family attractions in the Bangkok area.
Families staying in Hua Hin choose Safari World as a full day out with children, often to break up a beach holiday. Because it lies on the far side of Bangkok, it is a long but straightforward trip by car, and a vehicle that waits for you avoids the difficulty of finding a ride back in the evening. A visit usually takes most of the day, so many families combine it with an overnight stay in Bangkok before driving back to the coast.

The road between Hua Hin and Safari World
The drive between Hua Hin and Safari World heads north on Phetkasem Road (Highway 4) through Cha-am and Phetchaburi, then joins Rama II Road (Highway 35) towards Bangkok. From there the route crosses or skirts the city via expressways and ring roads to the north-eastern suburbs where the park is located. Tolls are included in the trip. The coastal stretch is usually clear, but Rama II and Bangkok’s roads can be very slow during rush hours, so an early departure helps you arrive with plenty of the day left. Rest stops along the way help with younger travellers.
Good places to stop on the way
- Cha-am early in the drive
- Phetchaburi for snacks or desserts
- Rama II Road fuel stations and cafés
- Samut Songkhram before Bangkok
Toilet and food stops are free. Sightseeing stops at attractions are 500 THB each — add them in the booking notes.
Best time to travel to Safari World
Safari World is best enjoyed in the drier, cooler months from November to February, though it operates all year. Weekdays are calmer than weekends and school holidays. Leave Hua Hin early in the morning to reach the park soon after it opens, and plan to leave before or after the evening rush. In the wet season, afternoon storms can interrupt outdoor shows. Bring hats, sunscreen and water for the walking areas.
