About ICONSIAM
ICONSIAM is the riverside mega-mall on the Chao Phraya with an indoor floating market and river views.
ICONSIAM rises on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya River, a vast shopping and dining complex with luxury brands, Thai designer shops, a riverside promenade and a huge selection of restaurants. Its ground-floor SookSiam zone recreates a Thai market, with food and crafts from regions across the country. The complex also has cinemas, art spaces and event halls, and its waterfront hosts seasonal festivals and New Year celebrations.
It is a popular day trip from Hua Hin for shopping, a family outing or simply to see Bangkok’s river at its most modern. Many visitors combine it with a river boat ride, a visit to Wat Arun or an evening at Asiatique, and some time their visit for the riverside light shows before heading back. A private car makes it easy to carry shopping home again at the end of the day without struggling on public transport.

The road between Hua Hin and ICONSIAM
The drive between Hua Hin and ICONSIAM follows Phetkasem Road (Highway 4) north through Cha-am and Phetchaburi, then Rama II Road (Highway 35) through Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon into Bangkok. Because ICONSIAM is on the Thonburi side of the river, it is reached without crossing into the most congested central districts, which can make it one of the easier Bangkok destinations from the south. Traffic near the mall builds up in the evening and at weekends.
Good places to stop on the way
- Cha-am
- Phetchaburi
- Maeklong Railway Market
- Amphawa
Toilet and food stops are free. Sightseeing stops at attractions are 500 THB each — add them in the booking notes.
Best time to travel to ICONSIAM
ICONSIAM is air-conditioned, so it works in any season and is a good rainy-day option. Weekdays are calmer than weekends. Arriving late morning avoids the worst of Bangkok’s rush hour, and staying until evening lets you see the riverside lit up, but expect heavier traffic leaving the city on Sunday evenings. Major sales and festive seasons, such as New Year, bring especially big crowds to the riverside, so plan your return time with that in mind.
Travel tip for ICONSIAM
